Tom Adams "Lines" music video
I met Tom Adams in 2023, after being a big fan of his music for many years.
He reacted favourably to a realtime animation on my website and we talked about a collaboration.
In 2024, I started to dive deeply and seriously into this realm as a new direction for my artistic work and this is the first fruit of our working together.
My partner Susanne Kohl and I set out to support the calm and fragile music with imagery that tries to accompany the song and support the feeling it gave us.
All animation is done in VVVV and it's FUSE extension in realtime on the GPU.
FUSE generates HLSL code from nodes (or to be precise: SDSL code for the Stride game engine that is the 3D render engine in VVVV).
Another extension, Kairos, is a very flexible timeline for VVVV that allowed us to set precise keyframes for all the effects.
